The 2022 Ford Bronco performed well in terms of looks and capability (it doubles as a two-door off-roader for the adventurous driver). It boasts 275 horsepower, four-wheel drive and a four-cylinder engine.
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport comes with four-wheel drive, a three-cylinder engine and excellent off-road performance. It was reported to be a comfortable ride with roomy storage and well-equipped tech features.
The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E drives like a sports car but carries some familiar capabilities of an SUV. It is a roomy electric crossover with a dual engine and available all-wheel drive. Though its off-road performance was not a strong suit, it performed well in the on-road driving experience.
The 2022 Genesis GV70 was designed for luxury, featuring a roomy five-star rated cabin equipped with a 14-inch touchscreen, USB ports and more. The vehicle also boasts all-wheel drive and a twin-turbo 3.5L V-6 engine for a quality on and off-road ride.
The midsize 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L filled a new spot in the family car market: third row seating. The large SUV offers four-wheel drive and engine options ranging from a 3.6L V-6 to a 5.7 Hemi V-8. The car handled well both on and off-road, and carried some desirable tech features.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is an ode to American cars, luxe and modern with plenty of tech features. It is a spacious vehicle with third row seating and a 6.4L, all-wheel drive engine. The vehicle handled well on and off-road, but fell short in terms of stability and efficiency.
The Jeep Wrangler 392 and 4xe each pack a different exciting punch. The 4xe is truly a tech-lovers hybrid equipped with all-wheel drive and a 6.4L V-8 engine, which offered strong performance on and off-road. The 4xe is a 470-horsepower monster with a V-8 engine and excellent off-road performance. It received lower ratings on fuel economy and steering, but is still considered a powerful and capable SUV.
The midsize 2021 Kia Sorento offered third row seating and a 281 horsepower, 2.5L engine for a smooth, sporty ride. While the transmission left something to be desired, the vehicle still handled well and offered improved fuel economy compared to its predecessors.
The 2022 Volkswagen ID4 is a hybrid SUV that carries about 250 miles to a charge. The vehicle handled well on-road but did not provide as strong of an experience off-road due to clunkier brakes. Despite this, the Volkswagen was reported to be a fun ride with plenty of modern tech features.
