Fall Activities You Don’t Want to Miss Out on

It’s autumn, the leaves are changing, the temperature is dropping, and the holiday season is about to begin. Get in on the excitement with some fun fall activities! Whether you’re eager to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, or looking forward to cozying up at home, this list has tons of activities to suit your style.

Outdoors:

Apple Picking

The best apples come straight from the branch. Grab your family and friends and head to your closest apple orchard for a fun day together paired with the crispiest, juiciest apples. And if you head back to the barn once you’re finished, they often sell warm homemade apple cider and apple cider donuts for a sweet treat.

Pumpkin Patch

Fall is the time for all things pumpkin – what better way to partake than by picking your own right from the vine? Pumpkin patches are a fun and festive way to celebrate the fall season and pick out some home décor or even arts and crafts supplies. Haul your pumpkins home without the dirt sinking into your interior with Cargo Liner to protect your trunk. Find out how you can make use of your pumpkins in the At-Home section of this blog!

Haunted House

Whether you’re the brave friend in front, or the scaredy-cat hiding in back, haunted houses can be a great group experience. Sometimes they force people to bond and work together through their fears — or it can just be fun to watch your friends freak out. Different haunted houses have different levels of scare and amounts of time spent inside, so do you research before you go (especially if you’re the scaredy-cat friend).

Hayride

The three places we’ve discussed so far often offer hayrides, so you can double up on these fun activities, or search for a different themed hayride elsewhere.

Hike

The best way to experience the fall foliage is to put yourself directly into it! Between the beautiful views, changing leaves and cool temperatures, fall is the perfect time of year for scenic hikes.

Candle Shopping

Fall-scented candles are a staple for the season — and shopping for them can be a fun outing. Gather your friends and head to your favorite store to for that inevitable "ooh smell this one!" moment. Once your decorations are up and your home is looking festive, that pumpkin-spice-latte-cinnamon-roll-fallen-leaves scented candle is the final touch that brings it all together.

Make Your Halloween Costume

With Halloween right around the corner, it’s time to figure out your costume. Grab friends and go as a group or pick a solo costume to stand out. If you’re looking for something quick, you can stop at the closest Halloween store to buy a premade costume. If you’ve got the time, head to the thrift with some friends and get creative. Once you’ve picked out your clothes, go home and get crafting. Maybe add some glitter, gems, fangs, fake blood — nothing’s off the table when it comes to Halloween costumes.

At-Home:

Host a Game-Day Get Together

If you’re a big football fan, this one’s a no-brainer. Gathering your friends and family for Football Sunday is a fall-time must – I mean, is it even really fall without football? Grab and prepare your go-to game-day snacks and get ready to root for your team.

Bonfire

There’s nothing like the smell of burning leaves and marshmallows roasting over the fire on a nice fall day. Bonfires are an easy, must-have fall experience.

Bake Fall Goodies

The holiday season is a time for family traditions and in many cases, that includes baking. There are many festive treats to make — but the best one’s come from freshly-picked fruit. Take your apples from the orchard and bake up a delicious apple pie or pulverize your hand-picked pumpkin for a pie of its own. Other fall treats to consider could be caramel apples, caramel corn, apple crumble, pumpkin bread and even cinnamon coffee cake.

Pumpkin Carving

This fun fall staple never gets old. Gut your pumpkins and get to carving — but don’t forget to save the seeds to roast for a yummy snack. To master the messy pumpkin guts, carve on top of a WeatherTech Project Mat and make the cleanup process simple

Paint Pumpkins

While a reliable classic, carving your pumpkins doesn’t have to be the only option — taking a paint brush to them can make cute décor for inside the house! Sit down with some music, snacks and paint and have a relaxing night of crafts.

Halloween Movie Marathon

There’s nothing better than hunkering down on a chilly day with a crazy amount of popcorn and your favorite fall movies. Heck — grab the candy corn, caramel apples and that pie you baked too!

Fall, for many, signifies the start of a long and eventful holiday season. Embrace the excitement, but be sure to not get too wrapped up in what’s to come with winter, so you can soak up every second of autumn possible.
