How to Get the Best Resale Value for your Car

Whether you are looking to trade in your current vehicle or sell it on your own, it’s important to make sure your vehicle is in tip top shape in order to get the best return on your investment. Showing how well you took care of your car says a lot to the prospective buyer about the current state of the vehicle for sale. Here are our suggestions for getting top-dollar.

Clean Your Vehicle Inside and Out!

Proceed by giving your vehicle a good wash and wax. Don’t forget to shine those wheels and gloss your tires! We recommend checking out our other blog on how to detail the exterior of your car. Check it out here!

Now it’s time to give your vehicle’s interior a refresh! Begin by decluttering any personal belongings and definitely remove all those extra water bottles that we all somehow collect from the backseat, car floors, and trunk space. Start by bringing your dashboard and leather seats (if you have them) back to life with some cleaner and conditioner. Then tackle any stains that you may have on the carpet of your vehicle. Here are some of our favorite products to help guide you along the way: 10 Minute Interior Car Detailing.

Take Some Pics!

If you are planning to sell your vehicle yourself, make sure to take the perfect pictures to add to your online listing. To get some ideas on what to take pictures of and the angles to use, check out other cars for sale online as your inspiration. Take note of how many exterior images they have of a full 360° view as well as all the wheels. Then for the interior, make it easy for the viewer to see all the details your vehicle has to offer.

Give it a full check

Confirm all the major systems are working properly, and are in good working condition. Check for any dents or scratches and buff them out yourself, or make note of these on the listing. Top off any fluids, check your tire pressure, and replace any burnt out light bulbs. If anything doesn’t seem fully right, it’s important to disclose any potential issues with the prospective buyer.

The Extras

Gather any and all paperwork you may have for the vehicle such as the title and any service records that may help the new buyer continue with routine maintenance. Don’t forget any additional spare keys or accessories for the car.

Did you know?

Our products, such as FloorLiners and Cargo Liners, help protect resale value too! Simply put, our products help preserve the life of your vehicle by keeping it looking as good as new. Because they are custom-fit for your specific vehicle, our products give you that extra one up on other vehicles in the market.

Determine the Value

Do your research on what your vehicle year, make and model is currently selling for. You can start by getting it appraised either online or at other dealerships to get a good base point. Or you can research how other vehicles like yours are priced, and compare your vehicle’s features and condition to those currently listed for sale. Remember to set your price low enough to attract buyers, but high enough to leave room for negotiation.
